Word 2007 saved as RTF

Glenn Brown

I have a Word 2007 document which has a number of styles setup that are using
multilevel lists. As soon as I save the DOCX as a RTF and reopen the RTF, the
styles in the multilevel lists corrupt.

Am I best to save as RTF and then create the styles with the multilevel lists?

If you're wondering, I need to use a RTF format for a template in a document
management system.

Thanks,
Glenn

The short answer is... Rich Text Format (RTF) does not support styles.

It can handle simple text-level formatting (face, font, size, etc), but it
does not have the detailed style support. Even pre-2007 Office styles (which
are far less powerful than the styles in Office 2007) are beyond the scope of
RTF.
