Word 2007: Settings you chose for left nd right margins, column spacing, or paragraph indents...

Paul Atkins

Settings you chose for left nd right margins, column spacing, or paragraph
indents are too large or too small in some sections.
Question:
Is there a tool that will pinpoint the offending section that is causing
this error?
Thanks

At least in previous versions, this message is often a red herring. The fix
(at least for earlier versions) is to go to the Columns dialog and choose
the preset for One (even if you think you have one column selected already),
which checks the "Equal column width" box. In earlier versions Word
sometimes got it into its head that you had more than one column and that
Column 1 was margin width (or other variations on this theme). I wouldn't
have thought this bug would have survived in Word 2007, but who knows?

It was corrected in Word 2003 but it continues to live in old documents.
After I learned SQM data found most users open an old document and use Save
As instead of creating new ones I'm not surprised that it continues to live
on. :)

This was my assumption as well. I knew it had been corrected in Word 2003
(possibly even earlier), but users do tend to open a lot of old documents
and work on them (even if they don't use them as quasi-templates, they may
revise them).
