Word 2007 Status bar does not update info

Status bar items line, column, position did not display at all even if
checked.

So I zapped normal template and started anew--no help.

So I did a repair of my Office 2007 installation using the original CD. Now
the categories display but the position and line number stay at 1" and 1 no
matter the size of the doc or the position of the cursor. Word count does
work.

Any ideas?

Some third-party add-ins have been known to do this. Off hand I recall an
earlier version of SnagIt caused similar behavior as you describe. First
still if the issue occurs when you start Word in Safe Mode. Hold the Ctrl
key while starting Word and continue holding until you are prompted to start
in Safe Mode. If the issue doesn't occur, restart Word (don't use Safe Mode
this time) and take a look at the Active Application Add-ins which you can
find by clicking the Office Button, Word Options, and then clicking Add-ins
on the left. If you find more than one, try disabling the add-ins one at
time to see if you can find add-in causing the issue.

Followed your post, found that Spellex medical dictionary was the problem.
Will remove and reinstall it. Thanks.
