Word 2007 Stops Working when I try to close it.

M

Mark McNees

System:

I am running:
-Windows Vista Home
-Office 2007
-Norton 360

Problem:
All programs in office work fine except Word. When I open Word I can type in
it, but cannot select any text with mouse. I can use the menu bar and I can
see the cursor in the document. When I click the "x" to close it gives me a
message "Word has stopped working".

Actions taken so far:

-I have tried to repair and have also removed and reinstalled to no avail.
-I have followed suggestions from the discussion board.

Sounds like one or two problems here. Either a corrupt Word DataKey and/or
you have an HP printer. Try switching to a different default printer and see
if that stops the problem.

I'm having the same problem. It's been crashing when I close a file for a
couple days, but not being able to highlight text with the mouse is new
today.

What is a 'corrupt word datakey' and how do I fix it? What else can I try?

thanks!

Why don't you start your own thread rather than add on the other threads?

Having already answered one of your posts, I find you have tagged on to a
different problem.

Do you or do you not have an HP printer as this is relevant to the
solution - which reading the thread would have seemed obvious.
