I have had a problem for quite some time. Initially the problem was that
when I created a docx file from my existing templates and tried to open the
docx file, I would get a notification that teh file was in use by another
user. I could open as a Read Only or cancel. Either choice would then open
the docx file not as a Read Only file. In all cases, the file was not being
used by another user. This was annoying, but the file would open. After
installing KB956358, docx files created from these templates would not open.
I would get an error that states The Office Open XML File documenet_name.docx
cannot be opened because there are problems with the contents. If I moved
the template file that the docx was created from out of its folder so it is
no longer in either the user templates or workgroup templates, the docx file
will open. If I then make a change to teh docx file and save it, I can then
move the template file to its proper location and open the docx file with no
problem.
If I save files as doc files, I do not have a problem, however Word will not
keep the default save as format as doc.
All my template files are dot files. I am running Windows XP Pro x64.
