This wouldn't happen on Apple software..

Running Vista - Home Premium and downloaded the latest updates for Vista and
Office that came out this morning 8/15/07. Since updating I am unable to use
my mouse to select a point in a document or highlight text. I can only use
it to change options in the toolbars at the top and sides of the screen. Can
still use keyboard arrow keys to naviagate my way around.

Any help would be appreciated.

Does the mouse work in other applications, or is it "broken" only in Word
2007?

When installing updates, WU sets a restore point. Can you restore to before
the updates and see if that "fixes" the problem? If so... then I would try
installing the updates one by one, to see if the mouse stops working
correctly again... and if so, see which update appears to break it.

Have you installed anything recently?

Are you still able to navigate and edit the documents using the keyboard?

No text selections with mouse or keyboar

I installed Dreamweaver. I'm lost without Front Page and wanted to try
something different other than Expressions....

I cannot edit the documents at all in word...other apps work fine. I can
even edit in MS Works.

If you cannot edit at all, this is a different problem. Do you get any error
messages when you try to edit? It sounds as though you have trial version
of Office and it has expired or it has not been activated within 30 days so
it is in lockdown mode.
