Word 2007 - Ungroup Shapes

Gregory Winters

I was working with a set of shapes, grouping and ungrouping from time to time
as I needed. All of a sudden, after Grouping, the Ungroup option greyed out
on my menu! Why did it go away? How can I Ungroup this set so that I don't
have to spend a lot of time redrwaing everything?

Thanks.

Hi greg,

You the shapes you grouped might have been ungrouped, try checking it out.
Ungroup option will be greyed when the shapes you selected (expecting it as
grouped) is already ungroup. If it is grouped you can ungroup it by:
rightclick-> grouping-> ungroup. If ungroup is greyed. I guess the shapes
are not grouped. And there's nothing to worry anymore.

If this was'nt you mean, do post back.

Sorry, but the shapes are indeed grouped.

I had the exact same problem, the way I solved it was by changing the
Layout of the combined group object from "In line with text" to
"Square".

Hope that helps you as well.

I saw that when I was testing in a blank document. Problem is that these
alignment options are all greyed out for the groupings in question. In other
words, once I changed the group to In Line With Text, Word is not letting me
change it back!
