Word 2007 will not open .doc or .docx documents when you click onthe filename

Word will not open .doc or .docx files when you double click them in
Windows Explorer and it also will not open these files when sent in an
email. I have to download the file and open Word and then locate the
file and open it through Word. I have read various MS support documents
about how to fix this and nothing seems to work. I have read about the
command line switches and see nothing I need to change. Now the command
line in the File Types dialog is "C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Office\Office12\WINWORD.EXE" /n /dde

I appreciate any help you can give.

That's a slight variation on the problem Graham Mayor discusses at
http://www.gmayor.com/Document_Not_Found.htm, and the solution is the same.
Add the "%1" (including the quotes) at the end of the dde command.

I am experiencing the same problem. Tried Graham Mayor's suggestion
but it did not help.
If I click on a doc attached to an email it hangs Outlook and I have
to close the program.
If I click on a doc in Windows Explorer the same thing happens.
I can open Word and drag the document from Windows Explorer and it
opens OK.

Very frustrating. Problem seemed to begin after an update.
I hope someone has a solution.
