Word 2007 wont close; restarts

When I close Word (2007, Vista) I receive an error message that says
"Microsoft Office Word has stopped working." The system then closes and
reopens Word.

I did successfully disable all Add-Ins (thx to another related thread)
but that only solved the mouse not working; the automatic closing issue
persists. Someone suggested it may be a virus that affects Normal
template?, but I saw no further replies or recommendations. I completely
reinstalled Office two days ago as well!
