Word 2007 won't open - blue circle spins incessantly

I can't get Word to open. My other MS applications open, but not Word. I have
uninstalled and reinstalled Office. I even did a System Restore (where I
wiped the harddrive clean and reinstalled), but to no avail. Any ideas?

When I go to close down Word in my Task Mgr, it says that Word is Not
Responding.

Thanks in advance.

I don't think so, though I'm not sure I understand the question. The printer
that I have is difficult to install in that it seems to want to install every
time I plug the USB cable into my laptop. Not sure if this answers your
question, but that's as close as I can come. Thanks for the response.

Word MUST have a compatible printer driver installed locally and set as
Windows default. Without a printer driver, it won't work.

Thanks, Terry. I deleted the printer that apparently is not compatible and
Word still acts the same. Wondering if I could add any ole' printer that is
compatible and make it my default, but the printer set-up wants to set up one
that goes to a certain port (nothing hooked up right now) or a wireless
printer, which I do not have.

Install any compatible printer: it doesn't matter if you don't have the
printer as it it the printer driver that Word must see. So installing your
old printer driver would be fine.
