Word 2007 - Word could not create the work file

We are currently testing Office 2007 in our enviroment and everytime we open
Word under a secure user, we get the following error:
Word could not created the work file. Check the temp enviroment variable.
The only way I can get it to not display that message is to put '/a' at the
end of a short cut.
I have tried rights to regkeys and folder rights. I also tried rebuilding
the user preferences by deleteing the regkeys.

Any ideas?

This suggests that there is an incompatible third party add-in causing a
problem. By starting with /a switch, Word bypasses every possible
customisation using its default install settings. Third party add-ins are
the usual problems, but it could be normal.dotx, building blocks.dotx,
macros or even com add-ins. See if the following FAQ has a pointer to the
cause: http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/ProbsOpeningWord.htm

I am running Vista and I get the same error when I run Word 20007. If I have a jump drive plugged into my usb port, everything works ok?

Somehow you have managed to make Word think your Jump Drive is where it
should be working from instead of using the local HDD. Check under File
Locations and make sure that nothing is pointing to the Jump Drive.

In future, NEVER work Word directly with any type of removable media. Always
copy to and from your local HDD before working and always save to the local
HDD and then copy the file to the media.
