Word 2007: Word did not save the document

P

Patrick Chouinard

Hi,
We recently switch our document management solution to SharePoint 2007 and
since then I can no longer save Word Documents to the library using Word
directly. This is not a permission issue has I am fully capable of uploading
the same document using the web interface.

Description:
Application: Word 2007
Document Management: Office SharePoint Server 2007
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium

Step by step:
1- log on to the SharePoint site
2- Open the document library
3- Navigate to a document folder in the library
4- Open the drop down menu for a Word document (Word 2003 format)
5- Select "Edit in Microsoft Office Word"
6- Try this with both "Save to Server" and "Save to my SharePoint Draft
Location".
7- Modify the document
8a- When selecting "Save to Server" when I click Save I get the message
"Word did not save the document" and a Save As window open.
8b- When selecting "Save to my SharePoint Draft Location" and clicking save,
the document seems to save correctly (at least to the draft location).
9- Trying to check in the document in both scenario will give me the
message: "Word did not save the document".

When I save the same document locally and then manually upload it to the
SharePoint library it does work perfectly.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you

Patrick,

Im have a very similar issue, only it happens intermittently to all
types of documents, Word, Excel , Infopath templates. Do you have farm
configuration with SQL on a cluster and a load balancer for the front
end boxes.

Tried this, but the same error even now. Any ideas on what could be wrong.
The same combination of Office 2007 and MOSS works very well on XP and saves
files without a hitch. Assuming it has to do something with permissions. The
file is checked in successfully with all metadata, but just not saved.

Also receive an Error (126) during Save or Checkin sometimes. Any ideas on
what could be wrong?

Thanks!
