Problem: Word is preparing to go to this link



Word 2007 SP1

XP Pro SP3



When I click the first time on a link in a Word document, Word takes 20 seconds to bring up the link in the browser. The browser is already running. You can see the progression bar in the status bar moving slowly with the message that "Word is preparing to go to this link." Why is it so slow for the first link?



All the other applications work fine including Word.



My mouse is a simple Logitech wheel mouse wireless laser USB and does not have any side buttons or anything. I don't have any mouse utilities and there are no Intellimouse drivers on the system other than what came with XP.

I have the same problem, but I don't have a solution.
By some chance are you also running McAfee?
