Word 2007 word stopped working error on exiting

When I close down Word 2007, the message, "Microsoft Office Word has stopped
working" and then the message, "Microsoft Office Word trying to recover your
information" then "Microsoft Office Word restarting". I have to close the
program a 2nd time & get the same messages before the program shuts down.
What do I need to do to correct this issue?

I've seen other messages about deleting data file and renaming xData but I
still have the same problem.

I am having a problem just like you stated but now when i try to edit a
document by using the mouse to move the cursor it is not allowing me to do
so. I have to use the arrow keys to move within the document and I cannot
highlight information to copy/paste it etc. It is really frustrating because
I do not want to lose my documents and/or have to recreate them.
