Word 2007: Workgroup templates, message: "File in use".

Why, in Word 2007, when using a workgroup template, does the message "File in
use by xxxx" appear, when xxx equals the name of the template creater and is
NOT in use by that person or, anyone else?

It suggests that the creator's Word or PC crashed and left an abandoned
Windows Temp locking file resident somewhere on the server.
