When opening a document, some display "formatting" bubbles in the righ
margin. I have to click Review/Show Markup, then deselect Formatting t
get rid of the bubbles (and restore the doc to full screen width).

Is there an option to change the default so that Formatting is alway
deselected? It's driving me nuts that I can't find a solution.

Thanks,
Ric

Since that is how the Document was saved, changing YOUR default isn't
going to affect it. The default sets HOW a NEW document is saved.

Thanks, Bob. Is there a way to automate the process of selectin
"Review/Show Markup", then selecting "Formatting"? I'd like that to ru
each time I open a document. I'm not sure if that is something that ca
be done with a macro or some other onboard tool. --Ric

Since you are getting the document from someone else, how do you propose
to place this macro in something before you have access to it? At best
you could put it in your normal.dotm file and have a button to press on
the QAT to run it.

Holy cow--I just realized from your post that QAT stands for Quick Access Toolbar. I've seen QAT in other posts and figured it was some advanced Office feature I didn't know about. Duh! On the other hand, it shows that an old dog can learn new tricks after all. :)

What? WHAT???

It's not a small, oil-rich emirate on the east cost of the Arabian
peninsula?

You're welcome.

PS. Entering QAT as the search term in Office Help returns lots of
assistance in setting it up and using it.
