Word 2008 crashes when creating tables

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel Since this week we have a problem when creating tables in Word 2008. Whenever we use the insert or create function, Word crashes. Haven't been able to find this problem on any of the forums we've visited, hoping this new request might lead to an answer.

I've been having exactly the same problem for ages on my Mac when
using Word and trying to work with Tables. Can't seem to get any joy
and thought it was me till I saw this.

Sorry, we can't help yet because we can't see the post you are responding to
(there's more than 20 different servers, we are not all looking at the same
one).

Please repeat your question providing a full explanation of what you are
trying, and what happens when you do.

We can't see your screen from here, we need a step-by-step description
beginning with how you start Word and how you create the document and where
you are inserting the table.

Please also include the version number of the latest updates you have
applied for OS X and for Word: we need that information before we can
answer.
