Word 2008 on OSX 10.5.4 is crashing when we try to save documents in any
format other than the native docx format.
This behaviour started after what seemed to be a successful update to
version 12.1.2
The same files, when transported to a different Mac running Word 2008 still
cannot be saved in other formats, but the error is different ("save failed
due to out of memory or disk space").
A Repair Disk Permissions doesn't appear to have found anything in Word that
needed repairing.
Copying the whole document except the last paragraph marker appears to have
duplicated the problem to the new file.
Trying to save the document as a web page crashes.
We opened it in TextEdit but we couldn't see anything obviously odd.
Help! The files in question are part of a PHD thesis. If they can't be
exported to RTF, the referencing software can't parse them (not to mention
the PHD supervisor can't read Word 2008 files yet).
