Hi

I've searched on the web and on this forum for a solution to my
problem, and
tried a number of things, but nothing has worked.

Post a HD replacement/restoration, I reinstalled MS Office 2008 (Home
&
Student edition). All other Office apps are working fine except Word.
When I
open Word, I get the following:

"You are working without a Word work file and memory is nearly full.
Save
your work."
<and when I click "Ok":>
"Word cannot open this document template (Document Elements.dotx)"

I am unable to open existing documents, create new documents, etc.

My system is:
Mac OS Lion
Intel processor
RAM 4GB (of which I rarely get above 2GB used)
My HD is 250GB (35GB Free)

Here's what I've tried:
1. Rebooting
2. Disk Utility repair permissions (from Restore mode)
3. "Remove Office" app and reinstalling Office
4. Applejack Repair Disk and Repair Permissions (from Single User
mode)
5. Cleaning out files as per John McGhies instructions on this page:
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/mac/forum/macoffice2004-macword/error-message

Nothing has worked. This problem is specific to Word, not to the other
MS
Office Suite products.

PS If I hold down <shift> while I open Word, I can get it to work, but
I
really would rather have it function properly.

Help?
