If you "need help and quick" I'd suggest that you provide enough information
for someone to have a clue as to what they may be dealing with. Had you done
so to begin with you may have gotten a solution by now.

What version of Word are you using?
What version of OS X?
What type of Mac?
Where were the files created - Mac or PC, What version of Word?
What format were they saved in?
Where are they stored - locally or on a network?
How are you attempting to open them?
What else can you tell us - such as what the files are supposed to contain?

There are plenty of people willing & able to help you out but you have to
give them something to work with:)

How large is the file you are trying to open (in bytes)?

Which file format? (What is the filename extension?)

That will give me a clue.
