Word 2008 Shutdown error

G

Gusto

Every time I quite Word 2008 on my MacBook Pro, I receive this error:

"A file error has occurred. Check your network connections or make sure the disk is properly inserted and not defective. (Normal.dotm)"

I'm simply using files on my local drive. Everything else works fine. It's only when I try and quit that this error appears. I've searched my drive for a file named Normal.dotm, but have not found one -- only a "Normal" file that I assume was from my Mac for Office 2004 installation.

Any help is appreciated!

Rod.

Hi Rod:

The reason you have not found it is that Word can't create it. That's what
it is complaining about!

It should be in your User Application Support folder.

However, the reason it cannot write Normal.dotm is probably because every
time it creates it, it sucks in garbage from the old Normal template on
startup. The garbage instantly corrupts the new template, preventing Word
2008 from saving it.

Try dragging your old Normal file to your desktop, or deleting it.

Hope this helps
