word 2008 toolbar preferences

i cannot figure out how to keep the 'reviewing' toolbar displayed all
the time.
everytime i either create a new document, or open an old one, i have
to manually go to the menu and choose view>toolbars and switch it on.
even if i save the document, and re-open it, the toolbars revert to
just the 'standard'.

i tried opening the normal template and setting the reviewing toolbar
to show and saving it, only to find that when i create a new document
only the standard toolbar appears and the reviewing toolbar is hidden
again.

does anyone know if the toolbars are (apple)scriptable (ie, tell app
word, show toolbar "reviewing") or something along those lines? i
searched the word applescript dictionary for 'toolbar' and found
nothing.

Yes, the toolbars are scriptable--search on "command bar"--you'll see a
small sample script at the bottom of this page:
http://www.mcgimpsey.com/macoffice/office/formattingpalettegone.html
slightly more efficient sample:
set visible of command bar "Reviewing" to true

As I said elsewhere, there's some code in Word that tries to close and
open the reviewing toolbar according to whether Word thinks you need it.
I don't think a script can override that automagic--I think you'd still
need to invoke such a script for each doc, though I guess it would be
quicker to call up the script than use the view | toolbars menu.

However, I think a better option would be to bring up View | Customize
Toolbars and then option-drag (creating a copy) all the commands from
the Reviewing toolbar onto a different or new toolbar. Other toolbars
should persist once you turn them on, so you will then have all the
reviewing commands available.
