Word 2019 told me I had an updated editor, and breaks a useful feature

Word 2019 just told me I had an updated editor, and refuses to let me check READABILITY stats for selected text ONLY . How do I get selected text ONLY stats back, i.e., selected sentences vs now checking the entire doc.
I tried searching for this, but nothing popped
