Where exactly does a Word2K3 .dot file store its AutoText entries?
Surely there must be some database file somewhere that I could edit
directly without resorting to the AutoText dialog?

Just curious...

Whenever I see someone write "surely there must...", my first thought
is, "Not in Word, there isn't!"

Somehow I had a feeling that would be the generic answer. And I'll bet
that's especially so when the question is posed by a Corel user, i.e.,
"In WordPerfect, you can do this, just by going like that...surely there
must be a way in Word to do the same thing, right?
The AutoText is stored in the template, but not in any format that you
can get to without either the dialog or some macro programming.

Fortunately for you, I've done the programming. Go to
http://jay-freedman.info and download two files, AutoTextDumper.zip
and AutoTextLoader.zip. Unzip both of them into your Templates folder.

And I remember looking through my Word VBA book to see if there was
anything like this, but I didn't see it. Thanks, nice work!

Somehow I had a feeling this would be the generic answer. I expect
that's especially the case when the question comes from a Corel user,
i.e., "In WordPerfect, it's really easy to do 'this', just by going
'that' and 'that'...surely there must be an equally easy way to do the
same thing in Word?"

I went looking for such a solution in my VBA books, but I didn't quite
see anything that would do the trick. Thanks, nice work!
