Word 6.0 Will Not Start

I am running Windows XP, I have Microsoft Works Word Processor 6.0, which is part of the Works 2001 suite, and out of the blue it stopped working. The application will open by itself, but if I try to open a document within Word, it freezes (gives me the hourglass cursor) and then eventually I have to press Ctrl + Alt + Del and the status says Not Responding. Please help me because I have about 10 papers due this week and I cannot access them now on my computer. I have tried tech support from Best Buy to HP & no one seems to be able to help.

The Works 6.0 word processor is not Word 6.0 (which would be a version that
came out before 1995). You will need to post in microsoft.public.works.win.
