I am sure this question was answered a gazillion times already, but I seem to
be caught in a loop here.

I have Word 3. I recently purchased Word 7. I have not yet installed it.
When I do will I lose all eltries I made in auto text? Also, will I be able
to access my old files and templates? Thank you.

Hi Phyllis,

I'm assuming you have Word 2003 (version 11) and you are moving to Word 2007 (version 12). While you should backup all of your
files before making any significant changes to the installed software configuration you shouldn't lose any of your Autotext entries.

In Word 2007 these are now a subset of the new 'building blocks'/quickparts feature. While typing a unique set of characters and
then F3 will complete an Autotext entry, there isn't an Autocomplete hint appearing now for Autotext entries.

You should be able to use your existing files and templates, but if those include custom toolbars those will now be located for you
in a fixed location.

Hi,

I might add you will notice that when you attempt to save the old word files
in word 2007 it will be possible to save them in many format different than
xxx.doc. You can also save them as word 2003 files if you like. I would
suggest you go google and simply type in *.docx and you will see an
explanation on the subject.
