Word 97 doc slow to close

I am having trouble with the speed of closing and saving a
document in Word 97. When I close/Save a blank word doc.
it is taking 16 to 19 seconds to close down. I see the
Outlook Journal Fix out there. If that does not work is
there any other fix to this problem

Have you ascertained that journaling is not enabled in Outlook?
