A problem has occured on 1 pc in our network. We have a NT4 fileserver og 15
workstations running Office 97.
On one pc we have a problem. When we start Word and choose files/open, we
see almost all folder names og filnames written with questionmarks - ie ???
??????. We can see a few names correctly, but there is no rule as to why
some are correct and some are not. The main problem is, that most of the
names are wrong (written with ????). The problem is the same whether we are
looking at a mapped drive on the server or on the local c-drive, and it
doesn't help if we go to another folder. This is only a problem in Word. If
we use explorer or Excel all the names are correct.
We can solve the problem by creating a new empty document and choose "save
as". At this point all the filenames in the folder are correct - not
questionmarks. Here we choose "cancel" and when we go to "files/open" all
the foldernames and filenames are correct. The foldernames and filesnames
are correct until we close Word and starts it again.
I hope somebody can help me.
Thank you in advance
