Word 97 freezes computer upon loading

My lab's Win98SE computer with Office97 SR-2 has recently
started freezing every time Word is loaded. If I double-
click a document, Word loads slowly but the document opens
fine. I've already deleted the Normal template,
reinstalled Word, reinstalled Office 97 and just now,
reinstalled Win98 on top of the previous installation -
yet it still freezes the entire OS when I execute the Word
program. What should I try next?
