Word 97 Hanging up

All of a sudden, Word 97 (on Windows XP) has started hanging up. I get this
message:
Faulting application winword.exe, version 8.0.0.4412, faulting module
mso97.dll, version 8.0.0.4202, fault address 0x002c778a.
And this message: Fault bucket 04248152.

I've reported the problem and gone to the website they suggest. Honestly, I
don't understand a word of what they are saying. Word has always been so
stable in the past, I don't understand this. Should I just uninstall &
reinstall? Or is there something else I'm overlooking?
