Word 97 - How do I change default filename in "save as" dialog?

How do I change the default filename that appears in the "save as"
dialog in Word 97?

The default filename, for some odd reason, appears as "morning.doc." I
must have done something to it on some occasion when I modified the
normal template, but I don't remember the specifics and can't retrace
my steps.

Any help, greatly appreciated. Thanks.
