Word 97 no longer prompting about macros

What may have caused Word 97 files that contain macros to stop propmting me
when I open them about enabling/disabling the macros?

Hi cayce,

If you're using Word 97 to open the files, check whether this option is
ticked - Tools>Options>General>Macro virus protection.

I don't have access to Word 2000 or 2002 at the moment but I suspect they
are the same as Word 2003.

For Word 2003, check what's set under Tools>Macro>Security>Security Level

For word 2007, check what's set under Office Button>Word Options>Trust
Center>Trust Center Settings>Macro Settings
