Word 97 page numbering freezes PC

Anybody aware of a problem where trying to set page
numbering in word 97 causes the PC to freeze (only
retrievable with Ctrl-Alt-Del)?

open the doc
Press Alt+F11
Press Ctrl+G

Enter: ? activedocument.listtemplates.count

if this number exceeds several hundred then that is where your problem
is.

Irrespective of which, I'd be doing a Maggie first (cuttenpaste all
bar last paramark in each section to a new document)
