word 97 prob

I accidently opened an MS Word document in 'Word Notepad' and the text came
up all gibberish. I can't now open this file in MSWord and was hoping
someone could enlighten me as to how I can undo my error or have I lost this
file for good?

If you opened the file in Notepad and then SAVED the file in Notepad, I
doubt that there's any way to recover the file, other than from your backup
on disk or tape.
