Word 97, Program Opening

Denise, appreciate your response. I keep a normal.dot
template on a CD just for the reason you mentioned and
have changed out the template several times. I also, went
to Microsoft Outlook, tool section, and did the
recommended procedures as prescribed in another help area.
Everything is still very slow. Thanks again for your
resposne.

Did you actually force Word to create its own new normal
template or just replace it with your copy on the CD?

Also, did you delete all instances of normal.dot,
including any "tilde" files (i.e., ~normal.dot). I've had
to actually use the Windows explorer search feature to
find all of the imbeded normal.dots before. If you
haven't, please try to force Word to create a new template.
