Word 97 stability

Hi folks.

We use Micro$oft Office 97 here, runing on Windows NT4 (SP6a). Without
wanting to sound too agressive, about 80% of all computer crashes, errors
and other random unexplainable behaviour occur while someone is doing
*something* with Word... Now, arguably Word is the single most-used piece of
software we have, but nothing else we use seems to give anywhere near as
much trouble. We use Excel quite a lot for what we do, and I've yet to see
that go wrong.

So anyway... is there actually something I can do about this? Or do I just
have to put up with the fact that Word is never going to work reliably?

PS. The CD we install from includes SR-1. Will putting SR-2 on all our PCs
make a big difference? I've put it on a few, but it's hard to tell whether
it makes any difference... these things are so random anyway...
