Word 97 Tables and Word XP

J

John C.

I have numerous word documents that were created in Word
97. We have recently upgraded to Word XP.

(1) When opening the older documents (that previously did
not experience ANY problems), I receive a message that the
document contains macros and asks if I want to Disable-
Enable-Cancel.
----
I have looked for VBA code or macros, there are NO macros,
why am I receiving this message?

(2) Regardless if I Disable or Enable these misterious
macros, when editing the contents of a cell in the form,
the form becomes corrupted, and the document is closed
after acknoleging the corruption error.

If a document has *ever* contained macros, it will continue to give the
warning, which is also triggered by shortcut keys stored in a document. But
it sounds as if the document is corrupt. See

Hi John,

You undoubtedly used ActiveX controls in these documents,
from the Control Toolbox? These contain a "macro element"
that triggers macro security. Most likely, you had macro
security set to "low" in Word 97, and to "medium" in Word
2002.

Other than that, I agree with Suzanne that the document is
damaged.
