Word 97 to Word 2000

This shouldn't be a problem but it is. I don't know why a
WORD 97 document that I received is empty when I open it
up in Word 2000.

How are you viewing the document? Are you using Print Layout view?

Also check under Tools/Options/View and make sure "Drawings" is turned
on.
