Word 97 will not let me paste

I have Windows 98SE and Word 97.......When I try to copy and paste
something to word, it shows up as a gray box with 2 pieces of paper on top
of each other, no text appears.....Could there be a setting wrong?.....This
happens in Works also.......

Notepad works, but I don't like using notepad because it cuts some of your
words into when you print....Thanks

Does copy and paste work properly in Word if Word is open *before* you
copy? If yes, then see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555173 "WD: The
Windows Clipboard Content is Modified When Word Starts".

Thank you, that fixed it.....It was making me nuts trying to figure out what
was wrong...Thanks again!

Glad to hear it. Out of curiosity, what was the add-in that caused the
problem?
