Word 97 will not open

I am trying to help my father fix a Word problem. He is
running Windows 2000 and Office Pro 97. He opens word
from the start menu and the word logo flashes across the
screen then immediately minimizes to the task bar. Word
remains this way and will not maximize or restore. Task
manager shows that Word is running and the processor
resources are 0%. I have not seen this error before,
please advise.

Word is probably off screen. Open a second document and then right-click in
the Task Bar and choose one of the Tile options. You should then be able to
close one of the documents and move the other back into its correct position
or right-click on the Task Bar and choose the Move option and then adjust
it's position with the arrow keys.
