Word 97

I know this is an old version of Office but I have a user
that has the Office 97 version and he can not get the
spell checker to work. The option is grayed out and I can
not find anything that will turn it on. Knowledge base
does not point to that problem exactly. Can one help?

More than likely if you have it installed on Windows 2000 or Windows
XP the users don't have the necessary permissions assigned to the
Spelling and Grammar keys in the Registry.

Note if using Windows XP instead of using the "Security" menu in the
Registry, use Edit/Permissions.
