Word 98, document closed without saving

Does anyone know if a document can be recovered that was
not properly saved? i.e. - working on a named document,
coworker closes without saving?

It can't. Any document worth creating is worth saving within five minutes of
starting work on it (and at no more than 15-minute intervals thereafter,
depending on how much work you're willing to recreate).
