Word 98 document conversion to Windows XP...possible?

I have Windows 98 documents that I want to view/work in Windows XP but can't
get the documents to read in XP. Are they lost forever???? If not, what can
I do???

Are you talking about older *Word* documents in *Word* XP? If so, what
happens when you try? We need details.
