Word adds pages when I delete

Valerie

I am working on a very long document (already at 100 pages) with lots of
formatting and images. I am running into a problem where if I delete
specific paragraph returns, Word starts to add a ridiculuos amount of pages
at the end of my document (its gotten up to several thousand and not stopped)
until I press ESC and CNTRL-Z. This occurs in several spots in the document.
Is there a way to avoid this?

Runaway repagination is a sign of corruption in the document. Recovery
procedures are described in
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/CorruptDoc.htm.
