Word always want to load Autocad 2009 at start-up

First off I'm running Windows XP, and MS Office 2000, and I really like both
of them, so I do not want to change.

I had installed AutoCAD 2009, and did not like it, so I uninstalled it (and
as far as I remember I done it the right way, I think), okay. Then I had
computer problems that killed the AutoCAD 2009 program. So I now have missing
drivers.

Now I notice that every time I log on to Microsoft WORD, AutoCAD 2009 comes
up and is looking to install... I did a complete search of my computer for
AutoCAD 2009, (and Acad, and 2009, and just AutoCAD) and it cannot find it
anywhere.

When I click to start Word, and the install message comes up I just click
cancel the install, because it can't find all of AutoCAD anyway, and Word
2000 seems to work just fine. I just hate to get the install message every
time I want to use Word.

Thanks for the input

It doesn't seem to be a Word problem, but you may well have corrupted the
Microsoft Installer.

Try running the Office cleanup utility: see
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301 and check that AutoCAD is definitely
uninstalled correctly. You will need to get the correct procedure for
cleaning up AutoCAD from their support site.

Does AutoCAD have an Office add-in? I seem to recall that it does. It could
be the add-in is still present and that's why you're seeing the installer
each time you start Word. I suspect it's a COM Add-in so here's an article
on how to check for COM Add-ins in Word:
http://word.mvps.org/FAQS/Customization/CheckIfAddinsInstalled.htm
