Word and Adobe

i have just upgraded to office xp 2002. adobe acrobat
worked fine with my 2000 version.

I have acrobat 5.05 and have tried reloading.

the problem is that in word (works ok in powerpoint) the
icons do not appear to create pdf files so i do not know
how to tag headings to be included for bookmarks.

since this worked fine in 2002 and works ok in
powerpoint, i am assuming it is a word problem. Any help
on how to get those back in my tool bar would be
appreciated.

thanks in advance

Adobe's Office add-ins are very erratic/troublesome. Try completely
uninstalling Acrobat, then checking for any references to leftover files in
Word's Tools>Templates & Add-ins dialog. Also run an explorer search for
files named pdf*.dot and remove those. Reinstall Acrobat.

Please respond in the same thread on this newsgroup. Make sure you
include details of your application and Windows versions, and whether
or not you have included any service pack updates.

Ok, I think I have a similar problem.

Had Acrobat 5.0 and Office 2000. Everything was peachy.
Just installed Office System 2003 (great launch event,
btw) and get an error message upon opening any Office
program, including Word.

Followed the prompts to install the update from Adobe,
5.05. After installing the update I still get the
same "More Information/Continue Anyway/Disable Add-in"
error box. Yes, the computer was rebooted after the
patch.

What gives? I followed MS/Adobe's solution and still get
the error box. Should I go ahead and rename the Adobe
addins as recommended by the MS Knowledge Base article
302596? And the knowledge base article says
to "temporarily" rename the files, but doesn't tell you
what to change it back to. I'm confused.

What's the exact error message your are receiving?

Have you tried removing pdfmaker.dot from your Word Startup folder?
It can be located at C:\Document and Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Word\Startup.

If you are using Adobe 6 pdfmaker.dot, check and see if it installed
pdfmaker.dot in the Office Startup folder, and move it to the Word Startup
folder.
