Word (and all Office X apps) hang on quit

D

Don Price

Simply put, whenever I try to quit Word or any other Office X apps,
the window disappears but the menubar remains and the app does not
quit. I have to force quit to exit the program.

I have repaired permissions, uninstalled and reinstalled the apps, you
name it.

I have seen posting indicating a possible problem with Norton's
Personal Firewall being set to Stealth causing this problem, but I am
not running any Norton products.

Please help!

Thanks. . .

Don:

All Office apps send an "I am quitting" message out to the network on close
down. This is what enables you to run a desktop and a laptop copy of the
software from only one licence.

If they can "smell" the network, but cannot send on the port they want, that
can cause this problem.

To find out, disconnect your network and unplug the cable, then try
quitting, re-starting, and quitting.

If the second quit is fast, it's a network firewall problem. If not, come
back to us.

cheers
