Word and conditional text...

Hi there,
Is there a way in Word to handle conditional text (as in FrameMaker, if
anybody is familiar with that). So, there would be one document and, say,
three different flavours of that document. The conditionality would need to
be tagged in some way and then selected in some way.
I would imagine that it must be possible in Word but I can't figure out how
- perhaps it is done using merge and conditional fields or something.

No, there's no good way to do this in Word. There are techniques involving
macros and hidden text, but nothing that's satisfactory for real-world
purposes. Word is primarily for creating documents, not for on-screen
delivery to end-users.
