First idea is that "reloading" the applications almost never fixes
anything. Applications just don't corrupt very often.

More likely is you've been bitten by the MacOS/QuickTime bug:

If you still have the installer disc then it's worth using the "Remove
Office" tool that is on the CD. Then check your Preferences on your
computer and see if there are still any files that begin with
"com.microsoft" and delete them as well - then empty your trash and
repair your disc permissions (Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility)

Sounds like the problem I just experienced last week while attempting
to load Office on my daughter's Mac. I concur with J.E. McGimpsey.
That was the problem I had. Solved by downloading the Quicktime 7.2
patch from the MacOS Update website. Don't forget to remove the
MSOffice Test Drive program if it is installed before you install the
full version of Office. And the remove office program won't run
either until you install the quicktime patch if you are in fact
experienceing the same issue I had.

Hello Mike,

It seems you have a corrupt font or fonts on your Operating System, if
it was a quicktime issue none of the Office applications will load.
All of your Office applications loads the fonts from your font book
before it opens the applications except for Entourage. What you would
need to do is rename all the font folders to find out what font folder
it is and then once you find what folder it is in you have to do the
process of elimination to find out what font or fonts are causing the
issue.
