Word and Excel Font Optimization Problems

Since upgrading to OSX Tiger I am receiving multiple notices of corrupt
fonts when booting Word and Excel. These are fonts which posed no
problems prior to upgrading operating system abd which pose no problems
in other applications. The result is that it can take me 30 minutes or
more to boot Word and Excel. Is there any way to override font
optimiation process?

What happens if you delete Office's font cache file, run Font Finagler
to delete the system font caches, and reboot? m.
